The Ipswich Transport Museum, situated in the Old Trolleybus Depot on Cobham Road, Ipswich, IP3 9JD, reopens for the 2023 season on Sunday March 19^th.

They say, “We will be open every Sunday until December 3rd. Sunday opening hours will be 11am until 4pm.

Sunday 10^th April is our Easter themed day. There will be quizzes and chocolate eggs for our younger visitors as well as free rides on our buses.

We will also be open in April on Tuesdays 4^th & 11^th, Wednesdays 5^th & 12^th and Thursdays 6^th & 13^th April between 1pm and 4 pm as well as Friday 7^th &  Saturdays 8^th & 29^th between 11am and 4pm

What is there to see? Well, we have about 100 major exhibits, almost all of which were manufactured and or operated in Ipswich. They include lorries, fire engines, ambulances, electric vehicles, bicycles, and a wide selection of grass cutting machines and horse drawn vehicles.

In terms of public transport, you can climb aboard our Ipswich tram and several trolleybuses and motor buses.

We are also home to the Ipswich Engineering Collection which includes examples of Ransoms Simms & Jeffries agricultural implements and one of their Combine Harvesters, Ransome & Rapier cranes & excavators, Compaire Reavell air compressors, Cranes valves and Turner grain handling equipment.

There are also displays featuring a Garage workshop, a Motor cycle workshop, and a Cycle repair shop. Displayed on the walls are a large selection of enamelled signs.

There is a well-stocked gift shop and the Sunbeam tea room.”
