Lydia Riade released her début single, ‘Fabricating Stories’ on 18th December.

Singer/songwriter Lydia Riade wrote her début single, ‘Fabricating Stories’ after experiencing a messy breakup. She documents all the roller coaster feelings of hurt and anger before finally finding closure. Although ‘Fabricating Stories’ intricately details how Lydia’s relationship came to an end, through an emotive, piano-led piece, the stunning urban ballad is open to interpretation to how anyone is feeling.

Born in Cyprus, Lancaster-based Lydia, started singing and performing at a young age. But it was only when she turned 16 that she took an interest in song-writing, based on her life experiences. For the past three years, Lydia has been perfecting her emotionally charged storytelling.

Lydia is on Spotify and Instagram with all her download links on Ditto.

‘Rising and Returning’ is the third single from Ronan Furlong’s new album ‘Ataraxia’.

We have previously heard ‘Red Sun Rising (in October, Week 17) and ‘The Easy Way Out’ (in September, Week 11), the two previous singles from this album.

Ronan is an Irish musician/songwriter who has been writing and performing his own material for over 30 years. In this time he has produced a diverse repertoire of highly original, thought-provoking music which spans many musical genres and styles. The hallmarks of his music are strong melodies, a committed vocal style, skilful guitar playing, and refreshingly unique (and sometimes abstract) lyrical themes that complement and elevate the underlying song.

Ronan has sought to build on the success of his ‘King Of Leaves’ album with his brilliant follow up ‘Ataraxia’. His aim was to make the album as diverse and interesting as possible with particular emphasis on the guitar and vocals. The results cross musical styles from gentle acoustic ballads, Space, Celtic, Classic and Mystical Rock to upbeat complex guitar picking.

Ronan Furlong has a website at ronanfurlong.com and he’s on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

‘Little Brother’ by King Princess and featuring Fousheé is out now.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, King Princess is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Her 2018 début single, an ode to untold queer histories titled ‘1950’, became an overnight smash hit with over 550 million streams to date and eventually achieving platinum status in the United States and Australia.

Now King Princess has unveiled a new song “Little Bother” featuring Fousheé. They wrote the song alongside co-producer, Zach Fogarty.

King Princess says, “I have been a big fan of Fousheé for a while, so when we started DM’ing and eventually set a date in the studio, it was a dream. ‘Little Bother’ kind of came out of nowhere; Zach had the guitar part and Fou and I just started going off. It became this song about tiptoeing around someone you’ve lost and feeling like a pest. It poses questions to a person who may not be listening at all and I think that’s a beautiful sentiment.”

King Princess is on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube.

Hatchie has recently released ‘Quicksand’.

Hatchie has released a second single, ‘Quicksand’, from her upcoming album, ‘Giving the World Away’. The album will be out on April 22nd, but the singles – ‘Quicksand’ and ‘This Enchanted’ – are both out now.

The second album from Hatchie, ‘Giving The World Away’ is the truest introduction to the songwriter at the helm of the project, Harriette Pilbeam. Although her sound arrived fully-formed, a dazzling dream-pop and shoegaze tangle, it’s here that she distils the core of herself into a record.

Harriette explains, “I’m capable of writing more than just nice dream-pop songs, and there’s more to me than just writing songs about being in love or being heartbroken — there’s a bigger picture than that. This album really just feels like the beginning to me, and scratching the surface – and even though it’s my third release as Hatchie, I feel like I’m rebooting from scratch.”

For Harriette, that bigger picture explored here includes confronting her anxieties after decades of compartmentalisation; realising her own self-confidence and self-esteem; taking control of her own narrative, and her place in both her professional and personal life.  On ‘Giving the World Away, she held herself to higher standards, especially with personal lyrical precision.

‘Giving The World Away’ can be pre-ordered from hatchie.secretlyca.co. Hatchie is on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram.

Cassyette & Kid Brunswick have recently released ‘Behind Closed Doors’.

Cassyette has released her brand new single ‘Behind Closed Doors’. Joining forces with fellow ‘grit pop’ and ‘Culture Cult’ member Kid Brunswick, this explosive new single sees Cassyette and Brunswick unleash unhinged howls and killer screams as they tell the two sides to a gripping story of toxic unrequited love.

Talking about the track Cassyette said, “Maybe you’ve been the victim of a one-sided love-affair, maybe you’re the perpetrator. A drunken moment behind closed doors can keep you trapped in a dirty secret. This song is about how it eats away at you. A bit angry, a bit shameful, this song the embodiment of that release when you finally let it out. We all know that feeling of being pent up when you’ve got no one to talk to. Especially if you’re doing something you know you shouldn’t be doing. You never really know what’s going on behind closed doors. Listen to this when you feel muted and scream along.”

Cassyette will embark on her ‘Mayhem’ Tour’ in February 2022. Her tour dates and ticket sales are available via Music Glue. She is also on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.

The show is available on MixCloud.
