The talk, by Richard Symes, will include stories of some of the families who lived there. As well as:
Love affairs. Life and death. Fortunes made and lost.
Smugglers and shipwrecks. Submarines grey and yellow. Poets, artists, military men.
Some surprises, and it all happened here!
Richard Symes has researched the extraordinary, fascinating story of Dunwich Heath. Over the last 300 years the heath has been dug up, cut down, shot over, burnt and maybe even invaded.
When: At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday 2nd August 2023.
Where: The Salvation Army Citadel, 558, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, IP4 4PH
Enter the building via the door from the rear car park.
Cost: Entry is £2 for Society members, £3 for non-members who are also warmly welcomed.
Pay at the door on arrival – no need to book.
